There are several ways to book appointments:
Access the online appointment system – see Getting Online below
Automated Phone Booking – see below
Telephone or visit the surgery during opening hours:
after 9am for non-urgent appointments
between 8am and 9am for appointments on that day
You must register at the surgery for online services. These include changing your details, making and cancelling appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, and obtaining a summary of your medical record. To register visit Reception and they will issue a User Name and Password – you will have access to the system as soon as you get home.
Automated Phone Booking
This is a very simple and effective system – no registration is required. Simply phone either surgery (Queens Park is 01234 351661, Honeysuckle way is 01234 213300), and when asked choose option 2. You will be asked for your date of birth (for 11th May 1949 enter 110549), and your phone number. If these match your details we have on record you will be offered the first available appointment – date, time, surgery, clinician. If this is not suitable you can scroll through (next, first, last etc) until you find one you like. It’s that simple!
Guidelines for Booking Appointments
Each appointment on the system is marked indicating that it can be booked:
- At any time, by phone or in person, or
- At any time, through on-line booking or Automated Phone Booking, or
- After 8am on the same day, by phone or in person.
You will have a greater choice of appointments if you use on-line booking or Automated Phone Booking.
If your condition can be treated by our Prescribing Practitioner or one of our Practice Nurses you will get an earlier appointment. A list of their skills is given here [link]. If you are comfortable describing your condition to the Receptionist they will guide you, but if there is any doubt they will book a GP appointment.
You can, of course, ask to see the GP of your choice, but all are highly skilled and all have access to your complete medical record. You will get an earlier appointment if you are willing to see any of our GPs.
If you cannot attend please let us know, using any of the methods used to book. If you cancel you will not be flagged as ‘Did Not Attend’, and we can offer that appointment to another patient.
